France: 1840s. A scene depicting a headstone beneath a weeping tree. It is captions "penser a votre petite Marie" (thinking of your little Marie). grass and flowers at the base and a conifer nearby. All created with wispy snippets of hair. Delicate fine work. Housed in an oval frame with convex glass. Sight view 4.5" by 3.5". Frame 7" by 6" Single horizontal hairline crack in under glass. Wear to frame.
