12mo Valentine -- Winged Putto with Wildflowers

England: 1860s. An attractive 12mo valentine made from a lace paper bifolium and embossed Victorian scraps. The larger hinged scrap in the center depicts a winged putto surrounded by clouds and wildflowers, with a gilt border. This scrap is affixed to the valentine with blank tabs to give it height. The other scraps depict white flowers, and there is a small scrap on the bottom that reads "My Lovely Flower". Measures approx. 4.75" by 3.25" Good to very good. Light toning, one or two spots, some nicks/short tears. Later pencil scribbles from child to back. Early ink marks to back. Scraps loosening.
