1896 Chromolithograph Calendar - Fine Imagery Forbes

A six (6) page chromolithograph calendar for 1896 for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., Springfield Mass. Forbes Litho Mfg. Co. Boston. Each of the 9" x 11" heavy card stock pages has a poet as a theme with a center illustration reflecting a major work. The first page is Longfellow with "Hiawatha", surrounded by vignettes for The Courtship of Miles Standish, Tales of a Wayside Inn, Evangeline and The Village Blacksmith. Each page has two calendar months. The second page is Bryant with "Sella" as the main image in an underwater scene with mermaids and fish. The third page is Emerson with "May-Day" as the center illustration. The next is Whittier, with "Maud Muller". The next Holmes, with "The Deacon's Masterpiece" and the final Lowell, with "The Courtin" as the center illustration. Condition: first two pages pulled away from string tie. Generalized edge and surface wear with exception of center lithographs -- all in excellent condition. Please note the images below do not show the entire calendar page - focused on center image.
