Christmas Card Greeting feat. Santa Claus and Circus Patron George Duffy
George Duffy (1874-1958) was a Fort Plain businessman and industrialist best known for his philanthropy and enthusiasm for circuses. According to his obituary, "he was a familiar figure on the 'back lots' of the big circuses, enjoying personal friendship with owners. For many years he and Mrs. Duffy purchased circus tickets for all of the school children of this community in order that they might witness a circus performance. The circuses were held on the Duffy circus lot."

Printed Christmas greeting card cartoon, printed on thick card, wishing the viewer a "Very Merry Christmas" from Santa Claus and the circus promoter George Duffy of Fort Plain, New York. Image depicts Santa on his sleigh looking on as as a cartoon version of Duffy finishes posting a billboard with the Christmas greeting. An elephant with the initials "C.F.A." is on Santa's sleigh (referring to "Circus Fans Association of America" perhaps?). Illustrated thick card measuring 7.25" by 9.25", verso blank. Near-fine.
