N.pl: N.p, 1860s. A handsome early coloring book for children, comprised of six (6) illustrations with bright hand-coloring presented opposite identical black and white line drawings for children to use to imitate and learn to paint with. All of the scenes depict children at play. Marked "No. 82" on cover, suggesting a series of such coloring books. Title translated into both French and German on the upper wrapper; we were unable to identify a publisher. Single vol. (3.25" by 5.5"), ff. [12], illus., in original illus. pink wrps with illustration of little boy painting on the front. Faint early pencil inscription to upper wrapper ("Mildred Ely"). Very good. Light toning, dust soiling.
