"Spalding Efficient Apparatus for the Play" -- Early Playground Equipment Advertising

Chicopee, Massachusetts: A.G. Spalding & Bros, 1919. A late 1910's advertising booklet for Spalding brand playground equipment, advertised as a safe and fun way for kids to grow, learn, and develop. Includes everything from basketball goals and volley ball nets to May poles, seesaws, swings, and indoor gymnasium equipment such as a vaulting horse. The booklet includes dozens of photographs of children playing with glee on the equipment, alongside quotes from the great thinkers of the day musing about the importance of sport and play for growing up. Also includes model numbers for ordering, sample gymnasium setups, and a brief price list for the Spalding Athletic Library. Single vol. (9" by 12.5"), pp. 80, photo illus., in original brown wrps stamped in gold, secured with cord at spine. Ink stamp of sales agent to title-page. Good. Spotting, light dust soiling, wrappers rubbed with surface wear, small ink stain to upper wrapper.
