"A Notebook of Intimate Problems by The Voice of Experience" -- Sex Advice from a Radio Star

New York, New York: Macfadden Publications, Inc, 1934. A. book of sex advice for adults by "The Voice of Experience", a pseudonym for the radio personality Marion Sayle Taylor. Offers fascinating insight into the social and medical attitudes surrounding sex in the 1930s. Self-styled in these booklets as a doctor and "sexologist", Taylor (1889-1942) was not a medical practitioner; we were unable to confirm whether he had a legitimate medical degree in the modern sense of the term. Regardless, these booklets are a testament to his popularity in the 1920s and 1930s and his identity as a self-help guru, with listeners hanging on his every word. Interesting to think about how listeners relied on a radio star for advice on such matters, including gender relations... and how people today often do the same with YouTubers and other social media influencers (also seemingly without medical degrees). Some of the chapter titles include: "Boyhood to Manhood"; "Physical Attraction Mistaken for Love"; "Promiscuous Kissing"; "Feminine Hygiene"; "Feminine Shapeliness"; "The Impotent Husband"; "The Mother of Disease"; "The Man Past Forty"; "The Woman Past Forty"; and "Interpretation of Dreams". This is a later printing. single vol. (7.5" by 5"), pp. 154, in original red, black, and grey wrps with silhouette image of radio star on front cover. Very good. Toned, minor dust soiling, spine a little skewed.
