Mechanicville, New York: The Inasmuch Circle of King's Daughters of the First Presbyterian Church, c.1920. A brief cook book compiled and published by The Inasmuch Circle of King's Daughters of the First Presbyterian Church in Mechanicville, New York. The group of women was formed as a local branch of the larger organization, whose aim was to support charitable work and community service initiatives. The present cook book was presumably published an sold to bolster the Mechanicville branch's own charitable causes. What makes the cook book special is that each recipe is attributed to a different member, painting a vivid portrait of the group at the time. Includes dozens of adverts for local companies supporting the publication. Single vol. (9.25" by 6"), pp. 24, in original printed blue-grey wrps. Pencil inscription to upper wrapper: "[?] Gretchen from your friend Elizabeth [?] Oct. 14 1920" Good. Toning, sunning/discoloration to wrps, rubbing to extremities.
