1910-1911 Lecture Season Announcement from Talent Broker

New York, New York: Civic Forum Lecture Bureau, 1910. Promotional leaflet for the 1910-1911 season held by the Civic Forum Lecture Bureau, an organization that brokered deals for touring speakers. The leaflet highlights Ellen Terry as its crown jewel client: "We are fortunate in having secured Miss Ellen Terry for a ten weeks' tour in Shakespearean discourses with illustrative acting. She will appear only in the larger cities and a few smaller selected centers where the interest in her work justifies such an arrangement. Those who are interested in her should apply for information at once." The remaining speakers are also listed, some with photos and sample lecture titles. Occupations held by speakers range from suffragists and educators to clergymen, poets, authors, a librarian, medical experts, an "African Traveler and Student", and even a "World Renown Pedestrian". Provides interesting insight into what subjects were most requested by audiences in 1910: drama, ethics, and health all seem to be most desirable. Single vol. (7.5" by 3.5"), pp. [8], photo illus., in original photo illus. self wrps with photo of Ellen Terry on the front. Very good. Light toning, wear to extremities. A coupe minor short tears.
