Ephemera with Westward Expansion Iconography
United States: 1880s or 1890s. A set of three (3) engraved images depicting Westward Expansion in the 19th century, sometime excised from an unidentified publication. Each printed on blue-green paper and measuring approx. 7.75" by 10", adverts on versos. The images include: "American Progress" (a metaphorical image showing America personified as a woman leading settlers Westward); "Steamboat Rock, Echo Canyon, Utah" (a view showing new railroads cutting through untouched land in Utah); and "Wood-Hauling in Nevada" (depicting a large cart of wood piles being hauled by ten mules). Good. Sometime excised from original publication.
