Pennsylvania Friendship Album of Miss Ann Shafer -- pressed Flowers, Four-Leaf Clovers, Decorative Penmanship

Pennsylvania: 1839-1857. Friendship album of "Miss Ann Shafer", begun on February 2nd, 1839 nearly filled on every leaf with manuscript entries from friends and family recording lines of verse. Includes a couple examples of fine penmanship, as well as three pressed flowers and two four-leaf clovers. Locations listed appear to be largely in Pennsylvania, and include Pikeland, Charlestown, Limerick, and Huntingdon County. Surnames include Wagenseller, Shafer, Coventry, McCann, Evans, Jacobs, Marshall, Miles, Bardenwersser(?), and McCaskey. Single vol. (7.75" by 6"), approx. 50 leaves, nearly filled with ink manuscript on rectos only, bound in original red leather stamped in gold and blind with red cloth repair to spine. Very good. Dust soiling, toning, extremities rubbed, the occasional short tear or nick. Back cover damage with amateur repair.
