Pages separated, surface soiling, book disbound, double-sided lacquer works broken with missing corner.1842. A 9" x 5 1/2" sketch book with 24 leaves. An 1840s book in rather poor condition with better than average pencil sketches and seven (7) fine lacquer works. They include a Chinese Village scene with a rough sketch of same on adjacent page. Alphabet letters Birds a floral spray with applied nacre or mother of pearl, a keyhole view of a bucolic scene following with damage Dutch windmill scene decorative flourishes. The better sketches include a fortress, a village scene with a river and boats, monks walking with a donkey, Dutch windmills, etc. One is signed E.D. and dated 1842. The bookseller ticket is from Madelain in Paris and one sketch is captioned in French. There is however a rough sketch of the Terra Haute House in Indiana.
