anon, 1850s. Octavo valentine with lace paper border depicting a courting couple in a garden with love birds overhead and peacock nearby. Gold embellishments. Upon closer examination the hand-cut cobweb image opens to expose Cupid in a rose.

Hand penned verse reads:
A truly fond and faithful heart
I have to offer thee
Promise, ere I with grief depart my home to share with me

Measures 7" by 4.5". Inside blank. Minimal wear.
