1880's Columbia University Library Postal Card

New York, New York: Columbia College Libraries, 1883. A postal card for "Columbia College Libraries", produced in the 1880s during the tenure of Chief Librarian Melvil Dewey (of "Dewey Decimal" fame). Dated Sept. 24, 1883, the handwritten note on the verso requests mail for Dewey to be forwarded. The addressee is the Post Master of Poland Springs, Maine. Includes a facsimile of Dewey's signature as a part of the blue logo on the verso. Very good. Light dust soiling, toning.
