"Queen Bess" Corset and Skirt Supporter
Worcester, Massachusetts: Worcester Corset Co., c.1880. A handsome chromolithogrpah handbill advertising the "Queen Bess" brand corset and skirt supporter, patented by the Worcester Corset Company in 1877 and 1880. Features an illustration of two well-heeled young ladies wearing the garments with Elizabethan-style ruffs. On the verso is a lengthy pitch promoting the product "to the ladies" based on its superior fit, adjustable shoulder straps, durability and style. Includes name of Maine-based sales agent to foot. Single chromolithograph leaf measuring approx. 8.75" by 4.25". "Sadie" written in contemporary ink on verso. Very good. Toned with some staining to verso, upper right-hand corner chipped.
