Victorian Sheet Music -- "Pride Schottisch"
New York, New York: Horace Waters, 1853. An handsome piece of Victorian sheet music for the pianoforte, featuring a chromolithographed illustration of a dark-haired woman sitting at her vanity, with a light grey border of peacock feathers. Dedicated to "Miss Charlotte A. Crow" at the head of the first page, presumably Charlotte A. Crow Dodworth (1835-1895), married to the conductor Harvey B. Dodworth. The schottische is a type of country dance popular in the Victorian era. Single vol. (12.5" by 9.75"), pp. [1], 5, in original illus. self wrps. Very good. Light toning, dust soiling, sometime trimmed, disbound. Leaves beginning to come loose as a result.
