"Attractive Homes Near Your Employment" -- Advertising Homes Built for Workers of Trafford Foundry, Near Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Trafford Improvement Co., c1910. Printed pamphlet advertising homes for rent in Trafford City, incorporated in 1904 after operations at the Trafford Foundry began in 1903. Workers at the Foundry would have received this pamphlet, which shows fifty homes recently built for their families. The homes are marketed as affordable, comfortable, and close to their place of work, with access to public transportation and an "Absence of dirt from smoky mills". The final point was probably most attractive to the workers, who spent their days in what was probably unhealthy conditions. Printed bifolium on yellow paper measuring approx. 8.75" by 3.5" Very good. Some dust soiling, wear.
