1890s Magic Transformation Book - Exaggerated Nose Characters
N.pl: 1890s. A clever "magic book" made from simple paper engineering principles: the "book" reveals different images through a cut window depending on how it is unfolded. Made from paper printed with whimsical illustrations secured to pink construction paper "covers" with two scraps as decoration. Each of the images shows a different Italian cartoon-style character with a different exaggerated nose (e.g. a nose used as a violin, a nose used to hang a drape). Measures approx. 13" by 10.5" unfolded, 4.5" by 3.5" folded. Fair to poor. Short tears, nicks, later repairs. Minor dust soiling, toning. Some damage to decorated paper around window.
