Calorie counting is a major theme, as well as portion control and keeping track of weight gain/loss. Several advertise specific products from the gelatin or dairy industry, and one advertises products from a producer of small appliances. All emphasize the importance of a slim figure to maintaining one's femininity.

"Streamline Your Figure". New York: Borden Company, 1939. Illustrated booklet (7" by 5"), pp. 32, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Includes nutrition basics, calorie tables, food classifications, height and weight tables. Advertises/emphasizes Borden dairy products. Pencil sketch to upper wrapper illustration, name and address of Ruth Townsend below, also in pencil.

"Waring Diet". New York: Waring Products Corporation, c.1955. Illustrated booklet (9" by 4"), pp. 18, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Includes advertisement for Waring-brand small appliances, calorie information, recipes, and chart of "desirable weights". Some light toning, one small pin hole to head of booklet, not touching text.

"Eat and Grow Slim". Chicago: American Institute of Baking, 1957. Illustrated booklet (7" by 3"), pp. 32, stapled in original wrappers. Includes information on calorie counting, nutrition, weight loss, and a section on suggested menus and meal planning. Blank chart for keeping track of weight on last page. Some light dust soiling, blue ink pen on lower wrapper.

"Figure-8 Guide for Modern Weight Control". New York: All Star Dairy, 1957. Small illustrated booklet (4" by 2.5"), pp. 20, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Includes nutrition information (emphasizing healthfulness of dairy), height and weight charts, calorie requirements and calorie counts for different foods and drinks. Blank memoranda page on final page. Fine.

"New Variety in Meal Planning for the Diabetic". Johnstown: Chas. B. Knox Gelatine Co., 1958. Illustrated booklet (6.5" by 5"), pp. 30, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. A booklet of over 30 recipes for diabetics, advertising Knox products. Includes loose mail-in form for requesting Knox products from local grocer. Every receipt includes Knox Gelatine and information on diabetic food exchange values. Fine.

Printed advertising pamphlet for Larson's C.R.D. diet supplement. Chicago: Fleetwood Company, c.1960. Bifolium measuring 8.5" by 5.5". Includes directions for use, calorie counting information for various foods, and illustration of the product on back with price. Food supplements to replace meals. Creased where previously folded; some light toning.

"Silhouette Recipes". Johnstown: Chas. B. Knox Gelatine Co., 1960. Illustrated booklet (6.5" by 5"), pp. 16 (wrappers inclusive), stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Booklet of recipes using Knox Gelatine products, including directions for using molds and "A few simple hints about Gel-Cookery". Lightly toned.

Miller, Mary Sue. "Painless Reducing from a Lovelier You." Newspaper Features Syndicate, c.1970. Illustrated informational sheet printed on blue paper (11" by 8.25") with dieting "Shortcuts", meal planning, and workout suggestions for women. Miller was a frequent contributor to newspaper columns and wrote about weight loss for women. Painless Dieting with an 1100 calorie a day plan....Creased where previously folded; stain to upper left-hand corner. Very good to fine.
