A grouping of five (5) booklets published by the Scranton, Pennsylvania-based Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences. The booklets were produced for its students, with each focusing on a different facet of sewing, dress construction, or tailoring. The booklets include:

Brooks Picken, Mary. "Essential Stitches and Seams". Scranton: International Textbook Company, 1915. First edition. An illustrated booklet with detailed lessons on how to sew seams and when they are best used. Includes a quiz with answers in the back of the booklet. 8vo (8.75" by 6"), pp. 33, [1], 2, with in-text illustrations. Stapled in original printed wrappers. Wrappers loose, some light toning, one small damp stain to foot of upper wrapper.

"Tailored Pockets". Scranton: Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences, Inc., 1921. Illustrated booklet with detailed lessons on how to tailor different kinds of pockets, quiz and answers in rear. 8vo (8.75" by 6"), pp. 40, with in-text illustrations. Stapled in original printed wrappers (tape repair, lower wrapper missing), some light toning.

Second edition (first above), now numbered "401" in the series. 8vo (8.75" by 6"), pp. 40, with in-text illustrations. Stapled in original illustrated wrappers (upper wrapper loose, short tears, with stain to upper wrapper), early ink ownership inscription of Betty Bradley to upper wrapper.

"Simplified Sewing". Scranton: Scranton: Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences, Inc., 1922. Illustrated booklet with basic sewing instructions and lessons, quiz and answers in rear. No. 402 in series. 8vo (8.75" by 6"), pp. 51, [1], 2, with in-text illustrations. Stapled in original illustrated wrappers (loose, short tears), light toning, early ink ownership inscription of Betty Bradley to upper wrapper.

"Dress Construction and Finishing". Scranton: Scranton: Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences, Inc., 1923. Illustrated booklet for more advanced students, detailing dress construction. Includes quiz and answers in rear. No. 413 in series. 8vo (8.75" by 6"), pp. 67, [1], with in-text illustrations. Stapled in original illustrated wrappers (loose), light toning. Very good.
