Sheep dipping is shown, the practice of "dipping" sheep in sulphur water to prevents pests and fungal infections. Other scenes in the story depict Navaho cooking, trading, travel, and general family life; overall, it paints the picture of a peaceful, hard working, and kind community. Small 4to (6.25" by 6"), pp. 47, [1], with in-text illustrations, stapled in original illustrated wrappers. Book plate of Phillip Higgins to lower wrapper recto. Very good. Minor toning, small short tear to upper left-hand corner of upper wrapper, one or two minor chips to edges.
