"Bacon's Celery King" -- Flyer for Patent Medicine by B.H. Bacon
B.H. Bacon began manufacturing patent medicines in 1885. His company had folded by 1906, with its demise most likely hastened by the Pure Food and Drug Act passed that year.
Rochester, New York: B.H. Bacon, c.1890. No, not that kind of bacon: printed flyer advertising a patent medicine sold by B.H. Bacon of Rochester, New York. Purports to be a "Certain Cure for Nervous Diseases, Nervous Prostration, Nervous Headache, Neuralgia, and all Disease of the Stomach, Liver, and Kidneys". Directs the user to make a tea of the the medicine and drink before bedtime. Advertises another patent medicine from the same maker on the back, called "Otto's Cure", which is marketed as "The Great German Remedy" that cures coughs, asthma, croup, pneumonia, and other pulmonary diseases. Printed flyer on light orange paper measuring approx. 8.75" by 6" Very good. A couple nicks/short tears.Price: $95.00
