"Affection" -- Hand-colored 12mo Pastoral Theme Valentine

United States: 1850s. A charming 12mo Valentine, with hand-colored wood engraved image of a young shepherd with two lambs and a young girl in a bright red dress. The message reads, "Ah! could you look into my heart, And watch your image there, You'd own the sunny loveliness Affection makes it wear." Bifolium (4.5" by 3"). Very good. Toned with one or two spots.
