New York, New York: McLoughlin Bros. 1850s. A scarce McLoughlin Bros. paper doll with two outfits titled "The Little Pet". Published in the 1850s, it is an exact duplicate of "The Little Pet" paper doll published in 1857 by Clark, Austin & Smith "except for a fifth costume ... [that] may or may not have been originally included in Clark, Austin & Smith's printing" (Howard p.78). Each costume is printed on front only, and has a blank back to drape over the doll like an apron. This example lacks three original costumes and one head/hat, as well as the original illustrated envelope. Doll measures 3.25". Wood engraved with hand coloring. Cut. Very good.
