Die-Cut National Child Welfare League Collection Envelope

The League was a relatively small organization, and ultimately became a precursor to the much larger Child Welfare League of America, which was established in 1921.

Detroit, Michigan: National Child Welfare League, 1913. A festive Christmas-themed contribution envelope for the National Child Welfare League, which advocated for child welfare and was based in Detroit, Michigan. The contribution envelope, which measures 1.75" by 3", is sandwiched between two pieces of card which have been die-cut to resemble a Christmas stocking (5.25" by 3.25"). The recto depicts a joyous Santa Claus above the message, "Your gifts within this Christmas sock will bring Santa Claus and joy to the little hearts of the poor little ones cared for by the National Child Welfare League". The verso has been printed with a form for contribution amount, name, and address. Fine; lightly toned.
