A copy book made and sold by "John W. Flagg" in Bennington, NH. The front cover states that "J.W.F. continues to manufacture all kinds of Writing, Printing, and Sand Paper, and keeps constantly on hand a general assortment of Blank and School Books." The copy book itself Caroline Hildsette, a young girl who on each page copies a short sentence repeatedly to practice her penmanship. Some of the sentences she uses are "He who acts the clown becomes the clown", and "Clean neat and free from every blot this book." The front cover has an engraving of two hunters getting chased by wolves in a forest. The back cover has a multiplication chart. Both the front and back covers also feature a decorative border.
