The book is full of poems that were copied down by Clara. Some of the poems included are The Golden Side by Mary Ann Kidder, Six Little Feet on the Tender, Drifting Apart, [Rev. Henry Brown and the] The Old  Home, Watching and Waiting [for me] by Marianne Farningham, Peace by J. G. Whittier. Additionally, there are 13 poems on newspaper, eight of which have been pasted together. Lastly their is a piece of paper with what appears to be a shopping list on it. "There is many a rest in the road of life, If only we would stop to take it; And many a tone from the better land, If the querulous heart world make it! To the sunny soul, that is full of hope, And whose beautiful trust ne'er faieth [sp], The grass is green and the flowers bright, Though the wintry storm prevaileth..." - The Golden Side by Mary Ann Kidder Cloth over Board covers, 16 leaves. Red tape binding. Half filled out. Measures 8" x 7".. Clara Danforth Sargent Nelson was born on September 26 1845 to Daniel Davis Sargent (1816 - 1887) and Mary W Chase (1822 -1920).  in Hopkinton, NH. She was married on November 17, 1868 to Harris Burpee Nelson (1843 -1928). She had three children George E Nelson (1870 - 1900), Eugeen L Nelson (1871 - 1955), and Carl Harris Nelson (1874 - 1971). Both her and her husband were farmers in New Hampshire. She died on March 15, 1932 in Sutton, NH of influenza.
