Description

Two tickets to Saint Andrews Society of Manchester Annual Dinner on Saturday November 30 1895. It was hosted at the Grand Hotel, on Aytoun Street in Manchester, England. Saint Andrews is the patron saint of Scotland, and traditionally this day is celebrated with traditional Scottish food, music and dance. In Scotland, Saint Andrews day is also seen as the start of a season of Scottish winter festivals. These two particular tickets were sold for 10/6 each, and dinner was served promptly at 6 PM. The ticket did not include the price of wines. One of the tickets inscribed with P. J. Ramsay, Esq. as the owner of the ticket. Ramsay was the honorary Treasurer of the society. While the two tickets have the same design, the color scheme varies. P. J. Ramsay's ticket is white with green and silver accents, while the secondary ticket is ivory with red and gold accents. Slight soiling on the back of the tickets, otherwise in great condition. Measures 6 1/2" x 5".
