Description

This item is the seventh book in a series of eight workbooks in the Natural System of Vertical Writing by A. F. Newlands and R. K. Row. This book focused on practicing "business and social forms", which essentially meant practicing how to write receipts (both amount due and receipts in full payment), bills for labor, cash account ledgers, bank checks, letters of applications for jobs, promise notes, grocery bills, notes of excuse, superscription, invitations, and notes of acceptance and regret. For each type of business or social form the workbook provides an example and space to copy each example. The workbook has been halfway used by an unknown individual. The front cover features a small engraving of a stylized quill with wings. The interior covers provide instructions on writing, both in terms of proper posture, and positions in which to hold a pen. The back cover features the alphabet, both in capitals and small letters, as well as the numbers 0-9, and several symbols such as dollar and percent signs. 24 pgs. Mostly completed by a fine hand. Printed green wrappers. Staple binding. OCLC 2 (July 2020). Measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/2".
