The Ready Multiplier

Boston: Gould, Kendall & Lincoln, 1838. Second edition of a book of multiplication tables by Charles W. Greene, educator and director of Greene's Academy in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Greene conceived of the project after discovering that having his pupils commit times tables to memory was an "irksome labor" (advertisement), and he sought an easier way to commit the arithmetic to memory.

Square 12mo (5.5" by 4.75"), pp. 29, [1], with typographical tables. Sewn in contemporary (original?) plain paper wrappers, spine chipped. Checklist of American imprints, 19103. OCLC shows 3 copies of this edition only (Feb. 2022). This edition not in AAS catalog. Fine.
