Sister Anne
Sister Anne was the last story written by Beatrix Potter and published while she was alive. It was only published in the United States.
Philadelphia: David McKay Co., 1932, First. In a darker story for Beatrix Potter, she retells the classic folk tale of Bluebeard. It is told from the perspective of Anne, the sister to the eighth wife of Bluebeard. 154 pages. 12 full page illustrations done by Katharine Sturges. First edition, first issue. The frontispiece illustration incorrectly tipped in opposite page 7, instead of the title page, as it was in later copies. It is one of the lesser known of Beatrix Potter's work, and is different from her famous stories, like Peter Rabbit, in both style and subject. Blue cloth binding, hardcover, with glint stamping on spine and front board. 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" The overall condition is very good. There is the slightest hint of wearing on the spine and corner of the cover. Binding is tight. The pages are discolored due to age, otherwise minimal damage.Price: $500.00
