Halenza's Rhein = Panorama von Mainzbis Coln : New Panorama of the Rhine from Mayence to Cologne

Mayence, Germany: Joseph Halenza, 1867. 16 fold steel engraving by Friedrich Hirchenhein. Concertina panorama. Black stamped board. Date inferred by inscription. A wonderful panorama tourist map that depicts the Rhine River in Germany from th town of Mayence, otherwise known as Mainz, to Cologne. In the center of the map, running the entire length is an engraving of an ariel view of the Rhine and the surrounding towns. There are 52 smaller engravings, illustrating numerous monuments, statues, castles, churches and bridges, featured along side the birds-eye-view of the Rhine. In addition to the map is 16 page descriptive text, in English. Total length of panorama is approximately 70" x 9 1/2" Covers show wear due to rubbing. Both the descriptive text booklet and the map have fully detached from the covers. One of the folds on the map has toning due to air exposure. Separations on the folds in a few places, one has been repaired with a small piece of tape.
