Boston, Massachusetts: A. Shuman & Company, 1880. Handbill advertising the Grand Re-Opening of Boston department store A. Shuman & Company, featuring a charming "Historical Plate, Showing Costumes from the 1st Century to Present Date". Lithographically reproduced from the original French plate titled "Grand Panorama Historique de la Mode", the illustration features costumes with captions beginning with "Gaulois" and ending chronologically with "Restauration". Presumably, the French fashion must have seemed very chic to the Boston store's patrons.
Measures 9" by 5.75" Very good. Light toning, letter folds.
