New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1876. 255 pp. Gilt stamped cloth. An 19th century travel guide, both for travelers and people looking to settle out west. There are twenty-six (26) chapters in the book, with fifty-eight (58) B&W engravings. The illustrations vary in size, from full page to 1/16 of a page. The book discusses the various routes one can take to California, and describes some of the sites, like Yosemite. Edge wear and rubbing to the covers. The interior pages are toned and slightly soiled. The book is missing pages 3-17, which includes one image. Some small marks throughout, but nothing that impacts legibility. Measures 9" x 7" Good.
