To the Friends of the Worcester Lyceum and Library Association

The Worcester Lyceum of Natural History was founded in 1825 and is still in operation (it has since been renamed "The Ecotarium"). Its main goal was to promote the natural sciences, and became a hub for many important 19th century naturalists.

Printed letter to the Friends of Worcester Lyceum and Library Association requesting volunteers to aid in the Association's upcoming Christmas Fair: "The Fair Committee therefore ask the ladies of Worcester County to contribute such articles of skill, taste and usefulness as will make [the fair] attractive and valuable ... Preparations from nature, as aquaria, herbaria, specimens of sea and field grasses ... are desirable ... We would also request that the young men of Worcester County, many of whose names are familiar at the patent office, to contribute models of their ingenuity and handicraft".

Bifolium (7.5" by 4.75") printed on recto of first leaf only. Toned, with letter folds, else fine.
