Illustrated Concert Program for Vocal and Instrumental Concert by the Mendelssohn Quintette Club of Boston

Boston, Massachusetts: 1872. Illustrated concert program for a concert given by the Mendelssohn Quintette Club, featuring Mrs. J.W. Weston as vocalist. The Boston-based Mendelssohn Quintette Club was one of the most widely celebrated touring chamber ensembles in the country. German music (including Mendelssohn's, of course) was immensely popular throughout the latter half of the century in America, and they were a highly sought after group. Includes program for the concert given on January 23rd, 1872, as well as two pages of positive reviews lauding the club.

Bifolium (9.25" by 6.5"), with large wood engraved illustration reproducing a famous photograph of the ensemble members; this copy has been colored in green and brown pencil. Very good. Some toning, some chipping/short tears at extremities.
