New York, New York: Clark & Sowdon, c.1895. Part of the "Tokalon Series" by Victorian game producer Clark & Sowdon, "Hunting the Rabbit" is a racing-style board game for four players (two rabbits, a hunter, and a dog). The goal is to complete a circuit of the game board first, before the rabbits reach their burrows. This example is complete (Whitehill p.81), and includes: 1 illustrated spinner, player pieces (red and green), two markers (white and red). The instructions have been printed on the inside of the top cover of the box, and the game board has been pasted inside the lower cover. Box measures approx. 15" by 7.75" by 1.25". Chromolithographed. Coated paper. Good to very good. Extremities worn, minor dust soiling. One small open tear to upper cover of box sometime filled.
