Dance Card - "Geschlossenes Kranzchen"

Vienna: Adolph Müller & Söhne, 1894. An 1894 dance card sumptuously produced by Adolph Müller & Söhne, leather and metal workers based in Vienna. The dance card is made up of three separate components: first, an engraved metal shield with enamel four-leaf clover and gilded brass ribbon bearing the date ("30. Jänner 1894"), backed in red velvet; second, a 16 pp. dance card printed in gold bound in red silk with decorated endpapers; and third, a miniature pencil, held in place next to the dance card with silk loops. There are 16 numbers in the order of the dance. Unused. Measures approx. 3" by 3", with silk cord and gilded brass hardware, including a hook to hang it from one's chatelaine or clothing. Composers listed include Chopin, Strauss, Lanner, and Ziehrer. Very good to near-fine. Minor wear to extremities. Some toning to paper. Sewing of dance card becoming loose.
