Description

A friendship album of Julia A Halls. Most of the entries are from 1836 in Meridan, however there are a few from earlier in 1835, and some as late as 1848. Most are poems or verses that were composed by her friends, but a few a famous sayings. Such as: "Pleasures are few, and fewer we enjoy: Pleasure, like quicksilver, is bright and coy; We strive to grasp it with our utmost skill, Still it eludes us, and glitters still If seiz'd at last, compute you might gains; What is it, but rank poison in your veins?" Cover shows heavy wear, and the covers are fully detached and the book is disbound. There is some soiling and toning due to age. Measures 7 3/4" x 6 1/4".
