| A two-sided paper fan on a bamboo frame advertises A. A. Vantine & Co. 877 & 879 Broadway and 18th St. New York. One side depicts a Geisha in brightly colored kimono holding a folding fan with chrysanthemums in the background. Advertises imports from Japan, China, India, Turkey and Persia. The reverse has two images one of a large tea house with water lilies in the foreground, the second a bridge with iris in the foreground. It advertises Rugs, Silks, Curios, Screens, Teakwood, Porcelains, Teas from the Orient. c 1900s. Both sides enhanced with gold trim. The fan measures 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" with a 5 1/2" handle base. Total length 16". Condition: one side of the bamboo frame has come loose. Believe it could be professionally repaired. Light edge wear. Vibrant color. |
