| A pair of uncut paper dolls from Amusement Pour Jeunes Filles. Poupees A Habiller (Grandes) Fabrique d'Estampes de Gangel et P. Didion, a Metz. c1870s. Includes a priest with five (5) vestments or robes, a cape and four (4) hats, plus an alter boy paper doll. Also includes a cut and completed priest doll. Somewhat unusual subject matter for a paper doll for modern times, but most likely from a series of paper doll sheets depicting important people of the day. Measures 13 3/4" x 17". Condition: trimmed with pieces lacking from priest on sheet. Sheet has been cut in two pieces horizontally without interference with dolls or costumes. Light ankle bend on constructed priest doll. An unusual find and particularly with the second cut and constructed priest. |
