| At first appearance this is an heavy cardstock
embossed die-cut chromolithograph Victorian greeting card that appears to open
at center captioned “Gluck und
Wohlergehen”. c1880s. Note the tabs at side. When pulled outwards the center layer or
curtain opens to review a die-cut ship scrap that moves across the page, as
those sailing across the sea. A scrap of
a young girl stands at right waving it on.
When the tabs are pushed inwards the outer layer closes as the ship
disappears to to the left. Appears to
have been printed in Germany. Condition: light edge wear on corners of
exterior; otherwise fine. Mechanism in
excellent condition. |
