Paper Doll Identification Guide – POLLY’S PAPER PLAYMATE
Excerpt from A Picture Book of PAPER DOLLS AND PAPER TOYS by Barbar Whitton Jendrick
“In 1910 and 1911, The Boston Post, The Baltimore American, The New York Sunday American and The Public Ledger presented the children of their readers with a delightful series called Polly’s Paper Playmates.
Polly and members of her family appeared weekly from October 2, 1910 until June 4, 1911 with outfits for many different occasions. There was even a group showing Polly and her cousins with costumes of different countries.”
The sheets of costumes from different countries include a series of dancers including American Dance, Dutch Dance, Irish Jig, Swiss Dance, French Dance and Belgian Dance. The following Paper Doll Identification Guide pages show images of each of the Polly's Paper Playmate sets by date. As you will note three dates are blank and two images do not have dates. Once identified these will be identified and updated.
