The author tells the story of two women, Minnie and Julia in 1868. Julia creates a sketch book of there life and insistence of the two of them never marrying. The end of the book is a facsimile of the sketchbook while the 101 pages at the beginning is the author's writing. 6 1/4" x 9" solid condition with no tears or staining.

This is the two hundred and twentieth Edition, with an Appendix. Measures 7" x 4 1/2" . Leather covers show edge wear and damage due to rubbing, especially on the spine where a piece has separated from the block on the top. Additionally there is a piece of leather missing on the top right corner of the front cover. Interior pages are soiled and tone due to age, with some foxing. The free end paper and fly paper are missing the top right corner. Additionally there is penciling on the end papers.

This is a dime novel from the International Magazine, and it is the first in the series. It features Agent John Merrill from the Government Detective Service solving a mystery. This is only a portion of the story as it continues on it in International Tales of Mystery No. 2. In addition to the story there are several advertisements, answers to correspondents sections, and a whit and humor section. The covers show some edge wear, as well as a small section of missing surface litho at the top of the front cover. There is some general toning due to age, otherwise fine. Begins with a history of the company. 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" 482 pp. Decorative green cloth covers with gilt stamp."Approved by Physicians of All Classes", this book was part cookbook, part health manual, and part domestic guide. It sought to codify and simplify the information and skills needed to efficiently and effectively run any household. Broken into 2 parts over thirty-two (32) chapters, the first part focuses on the kitchen. It supplies a variety of recipes that are both "economical and healthful" as well as providing tips to save on labor and how to properly season one's food. The second part focuses on what Beecher calls the "laws of health" and was meant to help a mother take care of herself and her children. Included with the book are several cut-outs; one a hand written recipe for sponge cake and another is a newspaper article on potpourri. There are several illustrations and diagrams throughout the book as well.   Measures 7 1/2" x 5". Moderate cover and edge wear. Some soiling and toning due to age (or the few inserts of recipes or news paper articles mentioned above) There is also a stain on the lower right of the book that continues through out the book but lessens in size towards the end. Catharine Esther Beecher was an American educator known for her forthright opinions on female education as well as her vehement support of the many benefits of the incorporation of kindergarten into children's education. She was also of Harriet Beecher Stowe, the 19th century abolitionist and writer most famous for her groundbreaking novel Uncle Tom's Cabin.

While it might have first have been indended to be essays on 'physical culture' these articles have snowballed into commentary on life, as well as memoirs of the Brawnville Althletic Club. Measures 7 x 5 1/4".. Edge wear, partially on the spine. The book is missing one page, it is evident that it was torn from the book. However it appears to have been the blank page before the title page. There is a small stain on the top corner of the first 25 pages or so, does not affect readability, A stove flue cover with a lithograph of a pair of winged cherubs or angels sitting in the clouds.

The book compiles forty-three (43) letters between an architect and his friends. These letters "are composed of hints and suggestions relating to to building of homes... [and] aim to give practical information to those about to build." This book is a wonderful piece of early architectural Americana style known as ‘Stick Style.’ This book features 30 black and white illustrations, some of which are full page blue prints to houses or rooms described in the letters. The list of illustrations has two pictures entitled 'On a Sidehill' and 'Only One Corner', supposedly printed on pages 43 and 48 respectively. However, this is not the case, they are located earlier in the book, one opposite the title page and the other right before the first letter begins. All the other illustrations are located where they are supposed to be. . Minor edge wear, particularly on the spine. Minor foxing.

The plates are 8 1/2 x 11 prints. 10" x 6" foxing throughout, book is solid with fold out plates intact Is book that tells the story of "the Wicked Woman", Almira Cathcart and her many crimes. This book compilation of two stories, the "The most touching narrative that has ever been given to the public; being a history of the sad end of a rich, lovely, and accomplished young lady, who was led astray by a bad woman and finally in despair drowned herself. To which is added a full and thrilling account of the pursuit arrest and confession of the wicked woman by whom Miss Clark was betrayed" and "a full and thrilling account of the pursuit arrest and confession of the wicked woman by whom Miss Clark was betrayed" The book was originally two separate books, that the publisher compound into one, and as such the page numbers reflect this. The first section starts on page 19 and goes to 62, and the second section starts at page 27 and goes to 48. The spine is cracked, and the covers are partially detached with some intact tears. The pages are toned and brittle.

"Les Maitres Humoristes: Les meilleurs Dessins, Les meilleures Legendes" translates to  the Comedian Masters; the best drawings, the best legends. Lucien Metivet (1863-1930/32) was a French poster artist, illustrator, cartoonist, and author. A collection of cartoon sketches with quotes entirely in French. 9 1/2" x 6 3/4". small tears in cover spine, all text in French, has glassine cover 700 pages, (plus fascinating ads of books) with twenty-six black and white illustrations. The title page states: "a complete history of metropolitan life and society, with sketches of prominent places, persons and things in the city, as they actually exist."  With over ninety chapters, almost every subject is covered, such as 'Fifth  Avenue', 'The Restaurants', 'Cornelius Vanderbilt', 'The Thieves', 'Children and Society', 'The Beggars', and 'Street Railways'. The illustrations either showcase locations in New York, or portraits such as 'Street Arabs' or 'Street Beggars'. The author, Junius Henri Brown, was a famous Civil War correspondent for the New York Tribune and New York Times. Brown linen covers over boards, measures 9" x 5 3/4" . Covers show moderate edge wear, with general soiling and staining due to age. The binding is cracked, and there is a tear in the linen cover on the front in the bottom left corner. The interior pages are moderately toned and soiled, with some water stains on the right edge of the page, these stains due not impact readability, or visually impact any of the illustrations. Overall, good condition.

This book details the events of September 6, 1781, when the British Army engaged a small Connecticut militia force in New London, CT and Groton, CT. After the British forces had burned most of the town of New London, they turned their attention to Fort Griswold located in Groton. What followed was Battle of Groton Heights (aka the Battle of Fort Griswold or the Fort Griswold massacre), as British forces attempted to storm the fort. While eventually the British would be victorious, they sustained heavily losses, and furthermore incited the anger of Americans as it was reported that slaughtered the majority of the Connecticut militia after they had surrendered. The book is authored by two men: an introduction and notes written by William W Harris, and 'revised and enlarged, with additional notes' by Charles Allyn. The book has sixteen black and white illustrations including engravings, maps, and heliotypes. 399 pp., Green cloth over board covers, with a stamped drawing of Fort Griswold on the front cover. Measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" . Covers show edge wear, and the cloth covering is crack on the edge and by the binding. Binding is loose and cracked. Interior pages are soiled and toned due to age. Front interior cover in annotated by a previous owner. There are also some notes in the margins in pencil on some interior pages. Interior pages are toned due to age, with minor foxing. Numbered Limited edition of 350 copies printed various paper types. This item is #123 printd on Holland paper. The book contains twenety-two black and white original etchings (missing two), most of which are in the plate. Etchings are done by Ernest Bosch, J. Willroider, Max Volkhart, C. Jutz, J. Leisten, Carl Hoff, C. F. Dieker, Oscar Hoffman, K.P.T. von Eckenbrecher,  Hans Dahl, H. Deiters, Chr. Kroner, Ernst Zimmerman, Franz Lenback, E. Ducker, and G. Meissner (some artist have multiple etchings in the book). Each etching with tissue-guard, and there are two sets of etchings which are printed two to a page, otherwise the etching are one per page. Each print comes with descriptive text by different authors. The first etching, 'Sunday Afternoon' is opposite the title page, while its descriptive text comes after the table of contents. Otherwise the text comes before the etching. Cover has gilt stamp details on blue paper over hard boards; the spine is a dark blue leather done to match the boards. Measures 17 1/2" x 12". Each of the menus is elaborately illustrated and includes at least one beautiful woman and in most instances elaborate architectural structures. Each is illustrated by A. Beignet. They are from 1890, 1891, 1892, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1899, 1901, 1902, 1906, 1908, and 1909. Reverse is blank. The largest is approx. 9” x 13”. Few with light edge wear. Some with light scrapbook residue on reverse at top, most likely from one person’s collection. . unpaginated, brown cloth gilt title, black and white sketches throughout mixed with minimal text, enclosed in matching cloth gilt box. A portfolio issued by the noted German painter Meyer von Bremen which contains 20 full page chromolithographs of both his and other artists' work. Each plate is preceded by a blank page with a printed caption and artist credit. The subject of the plates in this book are two portraits of peasant children, several charming bird plates, two flower plates, two French military plates (showing the soldier's uniforms) four plates depicting children in pastoral setters and others. Two chromolithographs are missing from this book. Johann Georg, called Meyer von Bremen, was a Genre painter and pupil of Dusseldorf Academy under Karl Ferdinand Sohn and Friedrich Wilheim Schadow. Meyer von Bremen began painting biblical subjects, then traveled in the Hessian, Bavarian, and Swiss mountain districts, studying the people for his genre scenes, which since have become widely known. The full title of this book ends with: A Series of The only edition in existence (Limited). Brown leather gilt stamped covers. The chromolithographs have tissues guards.
