Description
 
A single-fold quarto valentine constructed with intricate lace paper made by Mansell (1840s-1860s) The center cartouche is printed at base with a spray of greenery, with applied flowers atop plus a Dresden bird in a nest at the top.  A secondary lace paper is applied allowing for partial exposure of the decoration.  Finally a printed verse  and a cut-out of a leaf with a butterfly and lily of the valley adorn the secondary lace paper.  An interesting creation by an eager Victorian.  The inside page is blank.   Condition: scrap book residue on reverse with some intact tears on back page.  Lace paper in excellent condition
