A 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" single fold lace paper valentine with an embossed cover and applied hinged lace paper.  The lace paper has an elaborate and tasteful pattern. There is a colonial couple sitting on the lawn with a dog. Beneath the lawn is a banner that reads, ‘To One I Love Best.’ On each side of the couple is a column with two cherubs kneeling down and holding a drape above the couple.  In the center of the drape is a bouquet of scrap roses.  Shown through the lace is an image of Cupid sitting on a rose. He is going to shoot his arrow. The condition is good. Toning on the inside page.  Reverse is inscribed Ernest Gates.
