This uncut paper doll sheet is from the Netherlands and appears to be from the 1880s. It includes seven (7) children, an infant and a doll, a dog, a cat and indoor and outdoor furnishings including a table and chairs for the indoors and a boat with an oar and water for the outdoors. The characters are in sitting and standing positions. They are most unusual as each paper doll has one arm that is not part of the doll. The arm is presumably to be attached with a knotted thread to make the arm moveable., allowing the move items on the table. Or in the outside scene, row the boat. One of the dolls actually has two moveable arms. One other "moveable" type item is an umbrella and heads to be placed on the adolescent paper dolls to give them the appearance of mature adults. -- a most unusual piece. There are four examples of "settings" at the upper right. It is marked No. 1. It is titled "In Huis En Daar Buiten" - Groepen Uit Het Jeugdige Leven. (In House And There Outside" - Groups From The Youthful Life). 'S Gravenhage, A. Van Hoogstraten en Zoon. Condition: corner chip lower left corner; otherwise fine. Measures 13 1/4" x 16 3/4".
