Single fold quarto valentine with lace paper board and gilt embossed cartouche board.   Cartouche has watercolor of multicolored tropical bird at center with handpainted and applied flowers and silk leaves surround bird and along lace paper margin at base.  Hand penned verse at top “A contract I propose to date from hence, And as one firm a partnership commence; In Hymen’s Ledger.  I’ll fair statement make you, And formally my future partner take you”. Embossed cartouche marked DOBBS.  Border lace paper marked Dobbs, Kidd & Co. c1860.  Inside page blank. Measures  9 ½” x 7 ¾” .  Condition: fine.
