A two part hand made folk art paper doll from the 1860s.  The head is a magazine cut-out that attaches to the costume to create a paper doll.  One of the costumes is a cut-out from a woman's fashion magazine.  The other four (4) are hand made in the design of the magazine cut-out.  Close attention has been paid to detail, including applying hands cut from a magazine holding a fan or a hankie.  Also application of tiny bits of gold foil as buttons on the sleeves, belt and neckline, as well as lace paper.   Based on the fashion and printing appears to be cut from a fashion magazine from the 1860s. The dress has a horizontal paper attached to the back, allowing for the head with a vertical paper or tab attached to slip in and create a paper doll.  Creative Victorian pastime when printed paper dolls were hard to come by.   The doll measures approx 6 1/2". Condition: overall excellent.  A very special item.  See additional image below
