Description
 

A 5 3/4" x 3 1/2" single fold valentine. This 1840 card depicts an image of a women sitting in a garden. She has on a red dress and the gardens are green and the bench is faded yellow in color. The image is framed with four winged cherubs and flowers.  Verse reads, 'A little word in kindness spoken, A motion or a tear, Has often healed the heart that's broken, and made a friend sincere.'  Hand colored printed lithograph.  Front marked Strong, N.Y. (printer and publisher, (1842-1869). The condition is good. Crease down the card center and lower right corner has light blue color marks.
